Praiano’s summer music season continues with an evening dedicated to the great sounds of American jazz and the vibrant energy of Big Band music.
The beautiful Piazza San Gennaro will host “Swing at Sunset”, a special event of the Praiano Chambre and Jazz Music festival featuring the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra and its concert “Classical American Songs.”
In the heart of Praiano, surrounded by the charm of the square overlooking the sea and the authentic atmosphere of summer evenings on the Amalfi Coast, the audience will be taken on a musical journey through the timeless classics of the American jazz tradition.
The evening’s special guest will be the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra, a prestigious Big Band composed of some of the finest young jazz musicians from high schools and colleges in Philadelphia and New Jersey. The orchestra is directed by Maestro Joe Bongiovi, a respected figure in the training and promotion of young musical talents.
For many years, the ensemble has performed throughout the United States and Europe, bringing to the stage a repertoire that celebrates the great American musical tradition through the enthusiasm, talent, and freshness of new generations. In 2026, the orchestra’s Italian tour will once again include some of the country’s most charming destinations and festivals, including Umbria Jazz, Ravello, Orvieto, Massa Lubrense, Scala, Vietri sul Mare, and Praiano.
“Swing at Sunset” will be much more than a concert: an opportunity to be carried away by the energy of live jazz, the elegance of swing music, and the magic of a summer night in Piazza San Gennaro.
